CAREER INFORMATION:
I was commissioned 2nd Lieutenant (Infantry) on July 4, 2005. I returned to SIUC as a Gold Bar Recruiter until November 2005. Finished the Infantry Officer Basic Course at Ft. Benning, GA in July 2006 and was assigned to 4th BCT (Currahee), 101st ABN DIV (AASLT). I then deployed to Baghdad, Iraq from Aug-Nov 2006 with 2-506 Infantry. Returned from deployment and became the Platoon Leader of 3rdPLT, Easy Co., 2-506 Infantry and later served as the XO of Easy Company. Moved to 2-506 IN BN in Mar 2008 and served as the BN Air Officer during the deployment to East Paktika, Afghanistan. I was selected during an early functional board to Public Affairs during the deployment. Once the unit redeployed, I served as the Public Affairs Officer (PAO) of 4-101 (Currahee) until a career course slot opened up. Being a PAO, I could choose which captain’s career course I wanted to attend. I chose the Signal course at Fort Gordon, GA and changed my basic branch from Infantry to Signal. After completing the career course, I attended the Public Affairs Qualification Course at Fort Meade, MD and was assigned to the 24th Press Camp HQ at Fort Bliss TX where I am currently serving as a Briefing Officer. And finally….GO SALUKIS!!!
